San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers finished last season at 8-8 and have some needs to fill in the upcoming season. They finally began to see some production out of former first round draft pick Alex Smith but still have a lot of room to grow.

If Alex Smith is going to be a solid quarterback for this team they are going to need to add someone alongside Vernon Davis that can be a top option for Alex Smith. This should be a top priority for the Niners in this year’s draft. Other priorities in the draft could be to fill holes in the secondary and also to find a solid pass rusher.

The 49ers have two first round picks and will be able to add some solid players to this 8-8 team. Dez Bryant from Oklahoma State should be available and could provide Alex Smith with a number one option at receiver and take some of the pressure off of Frank Gore in the running game. Bryant is a great option here and could come in and make a difference right away.

In the first round at pick 17 the 49ers would be wise to pick up former USC star Taylor Mays at strong safety. Though there are other top athletes out there available Taylor Mays could come in and start for the 49ers this year and fill a big hole that way.

In the 2nd round the 49ers could pick up a pass rusher to aid a rush that had no dominant performers.  Alex Carrington from Arkansas State could potentially help out here or Jason Worilds from Virginia Tech if he slips down to the 49ers.
