Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings were one of the strongest teams in the league for the majority of the regular season, yet seemed to show signs of slowing towards the end of the long 16 game schedule. It is difficult to pin point what the Vikings should do as far as drafting new players when so much seems contingent upon whether or not Brett Favre returns to the squad. It’s hard to see too many weaknesses in a 12-4 team that had the 2nd highest scoring offense in the NFC, but there are some areas where they could tighten up the squad.
Adrian Peterson is one of the premier backs in the league yet even he struggled to run the ball with consistency behind a shaky offensive line. With a solid lineman the Vikings could bolster their running game and also protect aging Brett Favre from injury. At pick 30 in the first round offensive lineman Maurkice Pouncey out of Florida could fill that need.
Last season the Vikings defense produced only 11 interceptions. A solid pickup at defensive back in the 2nd round could bolster their secondary. A player such as cornerbacks Chris Cook of Virginia or Dominique Franks from Oklahoma could help out.
In the 3rd round the Vikings could add more depth to the running back position as Peterson gets a lot of carries. Joe McKnight is not an every down back, but is explosive and can catch the ball out of the backfield.
