Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers were surprisingly good last season behind the heroic efforts of Aaron Rodgers all year long. The Packers have a prolific offense and also a solid defense and with a few solid pickups in the draft they could step up to the next level in the NFC and even take the division over the Vikings.
The running and passing games were solid for the Packers but Aaron Rodgers was hit early and often all season, taking 50 sacks. This is a significant number and the Packers will need to make a couple of picks this year to boost the performance from the offensive line or they may lose one of the top young quarterbacks in the NFL.
The current offensive left tackle for the Packers is Chad Clifton and he was abused by opponents for stretches during the season. Charles Brown from the University of Southern California could step in and play right away if drafted in the first round.
It is apparent that the Packers have more than one need at offensive line and that the second round pick would be well used if they drafted a guard or center to put the pressure on the current offensive line to perform with a little bit of competition. Vladimir Ducasse from University of Massachusetts could fill in at guard and also a tackle position for the Packers.
In the 3rd round the Packers could add some depth to their secondary full of playmakers. Though they have some solid players, some of them are aging. Fresno State’s A.J. Jefferson is not much more than a raw athlete but with help from their veterans he could develop. Perrish Cox of Oklahoma State could also fill this need.
