Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears are just one of those teams that is difficult to read. They made key signings this offseason such as Julius Peppers and Chester Taylor but may need even more additions this offseason after producing only 7 wins and 9 losses last season. This is a competitive division and they’ll need a strong draft to bounce back.
Former cornerback/return specialist Devin Hester was their top receiving option last season. It is difficult to fathom a team going far with a specialist being your go-to guy. Some help in the receiving core could give Jay Cutler some more options and confidence in the passing game. Unfortunately with no picks until the 3rd round they may struggle to find someone solid to fit that hole. Demaryius Thomas has a lot of question marks around him, but seems to have the upside to be able to make a difference in the right situation. This would not be a bad gamble for the Bears if he is available in the 3rd round.
The running game also struggled last season for the Bears and though they have signed a new running back, some offensive line help would be welcome. In the 4th round look for the Bears to draft a player such as Ed Wang of Virginia Tech, Mike Johnson of Alabama, or Marshall Newhouse of Texas Christian University.
A defensive back in the form of a safety would also be helpful for this team. Robert Johnson of Utah could help fill this role in the 5th round.
