Tennessee Titans

After a disappointing start to the 2009 season, the Tennessee Titans were able to finish at a respectable 8-8.  They have high hopes for next year and are seeking to fill some of the gaps in their line up in the 2010 NFL Draft on April 22nd.

Tennessee struggled against the pass all year, allowing the second-most total passing yards in the league.  They are very weak at cornerback and will undoubtedly look to add a corner in the draft who will make immediate contributions.  The departure of DE Kyle Vanden Bosch makes adding a DE a top priority.

One of the keys to Tennessee’s success was the tremendous play of quarterback Vince Young.  While Young was able to make the most out of his receivers, the Titans will be looking to provide him with more tools in the draft.

Their first round selection will likely be on a defensive end.  Derrick Morgan of Georgia Tech is the best option for them.  If he is unavailable, Everson Griffen (USC) isn’t a bad consolation prize.  Whichever player is drafted by the Titans will need to develop into a starter at a relatively quick pace as the Titans are in desperate need of an end.

The Titans have no second round picks.  They have two picks in the third round (77th and 97th overall).  At 77, Tennessee will hope for Patrick Robinson (CB, Florida State).  Cornerback is another position on the Titans where whomever they draft will be expected to produce almost immediately.  With the 97th pick, expect the Titans to take a wide receiver to add another target for Vince Young.  Carlton Mitchell of South Florida would be a great addition to a receiving group that already includes Justin Gage and Nate Washington.
