Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns have filled a few holes in their lineup through free agency (such as signing quarterback Jake Delhomme).  They still have a lot of work to do to escape the cellar of the NFC North and it’s difficult to identify which of their many needs is most pressing.

Their two most obvious needs are wide receiver and the secondary.  They will likely use their first two picks on these positions.  Their defensive line needs a lot of work so it is a strong possibility that they will use one of their top three picks on a defensive lineman.

The Browns have the seventh overall selection.  It is expected that two top-rated players in their respective positions will be available when the Browns make their pick: CB Joe Haden (Florida) and WR Dez Bryant (Oklahoma State).  They will likely use this pick to take Haden and will look to add a receiver in the second round.

The current group of receivers gives new quarterback Jake Delhomme little opportunity to succeed, meaning the Browns should take a wide receiver in the second round.  The Browns second round pick will be the 38th overall pick.  They will take whomever is available out of Arrelious Benn (WR, Illinois), Demaryius Thomas (WR, Georgia Tech), or Golden Tate (WR, Notre Dame).

Hard working defensive end Corey Wooton may very well be the Browns third round selection (71st overall pick).  Cleveland struggled against the run last season, allowing the fifth-most rushing yards in the NFL.  Wooton is an above average defender against the run who will undoubtedly put in the work needed to make it in the NFL.
