New York Jets

This offseason, the New York Jets acquired CB Antonio Cromartie from the San Diego.  The Jets also employ the talents of Darrelle Revis, arguably the best corner in the league.  After trading FS Kerry Rhodes to Arizona, the Jets will look to add a safety through the draft to create one the most daunting secondaries in the NFL.

Additionally, the Jets will search for more weapons for quarterback Mark Sanchez to work with.  After a successful rookie season, Sanchez will likely enter his second year as an improved player whom teams will pay more attention to.  He will need another receiver and a running back who can carry some of the offensive workload.

Their first pick falls near the end of the first round at number 29.   The Jets will be hoping for USC’s safety Taylor Mays.  At 6-3 and 203 lbs, Mays is a rare combination of size and speed who will be a valuable addition to an already formidable secondary.

The Jets next pick comes in the second round, 61st overall.  If unable to take Mays in the first round, they will hope Georgia’s safety Reshad Jones is still on the board.  If they have already filled their safety void, Montario Hardesty (RB, Tennessee) would be a nice late-second round pickup for them.

After their second round selection, the Jets won’t pick again until the fourth round (124th overall).  They will hope one of two wide receivers is still available: Riley Cooper (Florida) or Jeremy Williams (Tulane).  Either would be great pickups this late in the draft and Sanchez would get talented weapons to work with right away.
