In 1960, the Cowboys franchise was first created as a part of the NFL‘s expansion efforts. Winning 21 Division Championships and 10 Conference Championships, the Cowboys remained a strong presence in their division, over the years. They won the Super Bowl in 1971, 1977, 1992, 1993, and 1995.
With 20, the Dallas Cowboys have more consecutive winning seasons than any other football team out there right now including other franchise records. They have 8 Super Bowl appearances, 14 NFC Championship Games, a record along with the most games in the playoffs with 56 among many others.
In 1960, the Cowboys first started playing in the Cotton Bowl but moved to the Texas Stadium in 1971. Until a brand new stadium was built in 2009, they remained there for almost four decades.
The Dallas Cowboys still boast about 7 Super Bowl MVP awards and have won only five super bowls. There are also a number of players that have been inducted into the Hall of Fame including Randy White, Michael Irvin, Tony Dorsett, Roger Stauback, Bob Lilly, Troy Aikman and many others.
Right now they are going through bit of a rebuilding stage, after releasing Terrell Owens last year and are still looking to Tony Romo to tighten up the offense.

The Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints are enjoying the benefits of being on top of the NFL heap but if they want to stay there they need to have a successful offseason. So far so good.

The big free agent signee was defensive end Alex Brown, formerly of the Chicago Bears. The Bears cut Brown loose after apparently not being able to trade him and the Saints saw value. Brown will bolster an already good defensive line.

Where the Saints need to fill a hole in the April 22nd draft is in the linebacking corps with the loss of Scott Fujita who signed with the…Cleveland Browns? Multiple mock drafts list linebacker Sean Weatherspoon of the Missouri Tigers as a likely target for the Saints. The Saints first pick in the first round is #31. They also have a second round pick.

A key strategy for the Saints has been to re-sign key role players from last year’s Super Bowl team. Eight players have re-signed. That’s taking care of business and taking care of your own, maintaining continuity with the players who made significant contributions.

An important open decision for New Orleans is whether or not to re-sign free agent safety and perceived leader of the defense Darren Sharper. Sharper had offseason arthroscopic knee surgery and hopes to return to the Saints.

As New Orleans tries to repeat in 2011, one thing is for certain. They are trying to keep the core Super Bowl team together while making appropriate upgrades.

Baseball is grabbing a little of the spotlight, but it’s still football that still takes center stage in October.

NCAA Previews:

A marquee matchup in college football is set for Saturday evening when the No. 1 Florida Gators head to Baton Rouge to play the No. 4 LSU Tigers. Online sportsbook have the nation’s consensus top team favored by 7.5-points with a Total of 46.

But the question going into that key SEC matchup is will Florida be able to cover and win without the services of potential 2009 Heisman candidate Tim Tebow?

The Gators last saw action two weeks ago when they hammered the Kentucky Wildcats 41-7, unfortunately QB Tebow was hammered as well and suffered a concussion.

Florida had last week off, allowing Tebow extra time to rest and the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner was able to practice this week but hasn’t been given medical clearance to play and will be a game-time decision.

“After [Tuesday’s] practice, I was told to game plan with the intent that there’s a chance that Tim could play. That’s all I know,” Florida head coach Urban Meyer told ESPN.

“All the other stuff . . . we’ll make a decision as we get closer.”

NCAA Trends:

The Gators are 3-0 against the spread vs. the LSU Tigers during Tebow’s time in Gainesville and are 11-3 ATS against LSU in their last 14.

Florida is also 6-1 ATS in its last seven games in Louisiana.

NCAA Betting:

The sports betting public is still unsure of which way to go on this one, as the Tebow injury causes uncertainty. Online sportsbook SPORTSBETTING is reporting even betting action, with 54% leaning towards the Gators.

NFL Betting:

Of the five remaining undefeated teams in the NFL, it’s not surprising to see the Indianapolis Colts and New York Giants, somewhat surprising to see the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings and absolutely stunning to see the Denver Broncos.

Denver’s first-year head coach Josh McDaniels was criticized for his treatment of former QB Jay Cutler but four games into the regular season, he has the Broncos at 4-0 SU and ATS.

Denver will be in tough to grab win five this week as they prepare to host McDaniels’ mentor Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.

The Pats are a 3.5-point road faves with a Total of 41.5.

Denver has been quite successful against New England at Mile High going 11-2 straight up and 10-3 ATS and in its last seven home games against the Pats. Over/Under bettors take note, as these “Over” has hit six times in those games.

- Indianapolis will aim to remain undefeated in a Sunday night tilt against the AFC South division rival Tennessee Titans.

The Colts are listed as 4-point road faves with an Over/Under of 45.5.

In the last eight games between the two, the Under has cashed seven times and the Over has paid out only once.

In Indy’s last 10 games in the month of October, they are 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS while Tennessee has struggled in its last eight games overall, going 1-7 SU and 2-6 ATS.

Enjoy the weekend football action.

Football betting is by far the most practiced leisure activity in the USA and football picks are really popular. Besides the thousands of people brought together and the enormous adrenaline rushes (in some extreme cases too great to handle), it’s a business worth billions of dollars and it plays important parts throughout the entire American Football arena, such as keeping the fans’ interest alive and so on. There are lots of fiery fans out there who can’t admit that, for years, a single day hasn’t gone by without checking out last night’s scores, what changes have been made within their favorite teams or even reading tabloids about the football stars’ lives. Here’s a short insight on NFL picks.

If you are willing to admit that football betting is by far the most practiced leisure activity in the USA, you must also acknowledge the importance of football picks and NFL picks. They are a significant part of football and their popularity is due to the fact that supporters enjoy thinking their favorite teams and players are the best. They are even ready to bet on it. Besides the thousands of people brought together and the enormous adrenaline rushes (in some extreme cases too great to handle), football betting is a business worth billions of dollars and it plays an chief role throughout the entire American Football arena, such as keeping the fans’ interest alive and so on.

There’s a huge public interest concerning pro football, a full-grown American Football “Culture” that is properly exploited. Besides football picks and NFL picks, everyone has something to gain at some point or another. First of all, the teams and their players, the bookies and the betting agencies, the brands spread due to the intense publicity done by the teams and even by the players who sign multi-million contracts with the firms to do commercials. Also, the equipment, even the water provided by certain brands can’t get by unnoticed, thus being advertised.

Leaving all the other profits aside, the football picks are still and always will be a steady financial pillar of the whole American Football business. There will always be someone willing to place another bet. So, these days there are well-organized agencies with various betting methods and professional bookies to take your bets.

It is always advisable, though, not to turn to phony or unreliable bookies, just to keep you safe. No one would be happy with a so-called professional or ghost-agency that will never pay them in case they win and so on. As everything in life, NFL picks should not be taken recklessly. That way you’ll stay out of trouble. Another good way to keep safe, like I said, is turning to reliable sources, such as well-known agencies.

There are numerous websites concerning this popular matter, such as Wunderdog Sports Picks. It’s quick and easy. The vast database contains scores and all other sorts of information regarding football picks and all there is to know about them; there’s tons of info that is sure to provide you with any details you need to be informed with in order to take a wise bet.

This site has a user-friendly interface, making it easy for anyone to scroll around in search for good NFL picks. It also has contests awarding free picks, which are not to be missed. It wouldn’t hurt to check out the resource below for a better insight on the site and to improve your online betting experience.

It’s also free to sign up to receive their newsletter and to look over sport books and resources – you will surely find something to your liking in their vast database. In a few minutes you’re set. And who knows? What if your gut tells you the right thing this time? Maybe you’re a few clicks away from your lucky NFL picks.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (12-4 SU, 8-8 ATS): Led by an unheralded offensive line that allowed the fewest sacks in the league for the third straight season, the Colts racked up an NFL record third down conversion rate of 56.1 percent last season. QB Peyton Manning, WRs Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne, and RB Joseph Addai, who added 1,071 yards rushing as a rookie, are back for another season. The defense, which repaired a poor performance against the run late in the season, must replace a pair of cornerbacks but has solid depth and should be adequate.

By the Numbers (Regular Season, 1998-2006)

SU: 92-52

ATS: 72-68-4

HD: 3-3

AF: 21-16-2

AD: 14-13-1

Sportsbook Buster: The Colts are 8-1 ATS versus the Chiefs, who they play at home, Nov. 18.

Sports Betting Angle: Indianapolis is 7-1 ATS the week after playing division weakling, Houston.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (8-8 SU, 8-8 ATS): The Jaguars took several steps back from their 12-4 season in 2005 and the blame rests squarely with an offense that was anemic last season. Head Coach Jack Del Rio fired three offensive assistants and the Jags will opt for a power running game, relying on the tandem of Maurice Jones-Drew 941 yards) and Fred Taylor (1,146 yards), taking some heat off QB Byron Leftwich, who lacks a quality receiving corps. Despite a bevy of injuries, Jacksonville’s defense finished second in the NFL. If Leftwich remains healthy and the offense improves, the Jaguars could challenge for a wild card spot.

By the Numbers (Regular Season, 1998-2006)

SU: 77-67

ATS: 73-65-5

HF: 27-23-2

HD: 12-7-1

AF: 12-19-1

AD: 22-17-1

Sportsbook Buster: The Jaguars have covered four straight games against the Steelers, who they meet in Pittsburgh, Dec. 16.

Sports Betting Angle: Jacksonville is 5-0 ATS the game after a double-digit loss.

TENNESSEE TITANS (8-8 SU, 11-5 ATS): The Titans won six of seven games down the stretch, mostly because QB Vince Young began to demonstrate his extraordinary talent, proving himself to be a player who could take over a game and make things happen. Sadly, Young is just about on his own now that top rusher Travis Henry (1,211 yards) and wideouts Drew Bennett and Bobby Wade, the top two pass catchers, have left the team. The defense, which had only 26 sacks last year, was devastated by the loss of CB Pacman Jones, who now has bigger problems than man-to-man coverage. Even with the explosive Young, it’s tough to envision the Titans back in the playoffs.

By the Numbers (Regular Season, 1998-2006)

SU: 81-63

ATS: 71-67-2

HF: 21-26-1

HD: 13-10

AF: 10-13-1

AD: 24-21

Sportsbook Buster: The Titans are 0-9 ATS as road favorites of less than three points after a SU win.

Sports Betting Angle: Tennessee has covered four straight against both Atlanta and Tampa Bay, who they meet on successive weekends, Oct. 7 and 14.

HOUSTON TEXANS (6-10 SU, 7-9 ATS): The Texans finished 28th in offense last season and QB David Carr, who suffered 43 sacks, was sent packing, making Matt Schaub the starting quarterback. The addition of former Packer Ahman Green gives Houston a veteran running back and Andre Johnson, who caught 103 passes last year despite numerous double teams, is a quality receiver. The offensive line, long a problem area, still needs a left tackle. The defense improved as the season went on but the Texans just don’t have enough quality overall to make a move up the division ladder this year.

By the Numbers (Regular Season, 2002-2006)

SU: 24-56

ATS: 39-40-1

HF: 4-6

HD: 16-13-1

AF: 0-0

AD: 19-21

Sportsbook Buster: The Texans are 4-13 as a non-division underdog of more than three points.

Sports Betting Angle: Houston is 5-1 ATS versus Jacksonville, who they play on the road Oct. 14 and at home Dec. 30.

Legend:

SU = Straight Up

ATS = Against the Spread

HF = Home Favorite

HD = Home Underdog

AF = Away Favorite

CHICAGO BEARS (13-3 SU, 8-7-1 ATS): It was a memorable off-season for the Bears who dispatched team offensive MVP Thomas Jones, took a hard line with disgruntled LB Lance Briggs, and parted ways with troubled DT Tank Johnson. Chicago was second in the NFL in points scored last year, although leading the league in points off turnovers was the main reason for that success. Cedric Benson takes over at RB for Jones with much maligned Rex Grossman still behind center. The Bears will win with their solid defense but the specter of just one Super Bowl loser even making the post-season in the past six years, looms over their heads.

Sportsbook Buster: The Bears are a combined 17-2-1 ATS versus AFC West teams (San Diego, Denver, Kansas City, Oakland), all of whom they play this year.

NFL Betting Angle: Chicago is just 1-6 as a favorite after a bye week. This year, the Bears are at Oakland (Nov. 11) after a week off.

GREEN BAY PACKERS (8-8 SU, 7-9 ATS): First year Head Coach Mike McCarthy’s West Style offense helped the Packers win twice as many games as the previous season but continued improvement could be difficult to attain this year. QB Brett Favre is still the mainstay of an offense that will miss RB Ahman Green and doesn’t have a stud at wide receiver. The line is a work in progress. On defense, the Packers improved dramatically once DT Cullen Jenkins moved outside, finishing in the middle of the pack (so to speak), statistically. This is not a very good team but this is not a tough division, either.

Sportsbook Buster: The Packers are 6-0 ATS versus the Redskins, who they play Oct. 14.

NFL Betting Angle: Green Bay has failed to cover seven straight games as a home underdog.

DETROIT LIONS (3-13 SU, 6-10 ATS): Offensive coordinator Mike Martz’ system did not work well in Detroit where a weak offensive line was responsible for the Lions finishing dead last in the league in rushing. Head Coach Rod Marinelli was equally disappointed by his freshly installed defensive scheme which finished 30th in the NFL in points allowed. Detroit fans are hoping that a full year under the new systems will yield better results this season and they may be right.

NFL Betting Angle: Detroit has proven to be a solid home underdog and terrible home favorite over the last nine years.

MINNESOTA VIKINGS (6-10 SU, 7-9 ATS): Second year Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress, the offensive architect in Philadelphia, hopes that the addition of draft choices RB Adrian Peterson (Oklahoma) and WR Sidney Rice (South Carolina) will improve an attack that ranked just 26th in scoring last season. Having Tarvaris Jackson as your starting QB could be a problem, though. The defense lead the NFL against the run but was last against the pass last season. A better pass rush is needed if Minnesota is to stay ahead of Detroit in the fight to avoid the NFC North basement.
