Houston Texans visit Philadelphia Eagles
The Houston Texans and the Philadelphia Eagles will square off in the Thursday night NFL game this week (8:20 PM ET, NFL).
The Texans are coming off of a solid win this past week, while the Eagles were beaten by the Chicago Bears. The Texans now have a 5-6 record on the season while the Eagles are at 7-4.
The Eagles will be the 8-point favorites and the over/under total is at 51 in NFL betting Odds.
The Houston Texans will need to step things up on the defensive end against the Eagles this week. The Texans are 31st in the NFL in pass defense. The Eagles meanwhile have a pass offense that averages more than 250 yards per game. They have just been getting better with time as Michael Vick settles into the offense. If the Texans can’t step things up on defense they will be in trouble against Vick.
Vick has been contained to some extent over the last two weeks and the Texans have an example to follow. The Eagles have a lot of weapons to use though and they will be hard to contain. The Eagles have the 8th best passing game and the 3rd best rushing game in the NFL.
This game will be important for both teams. A loss by the Eagles could allow the Giants to go by them in the standings. Meanwhile, the Texans can’t afford another loss this season if they hope to make the playoffs. Another loss would leave them with 7 on the season and that will leave them right on the border of playoff contention.
