Mini Camps – Carolina Panthers – NFL

The Carolina Panthers, from April 30 to May, held a minicamp for the whole team. In Charlotte, North Carolina, the minicamp was held. It was seen as more of an opportunity for rookies to get acquainted with NFL football and mingle with the vets, instead of the camp being seen as a battle for depth chart positioning.

From the minicamp, NFL football betting star, Richard Marshall, the cornerback was absent. The free agent felt that the offer received by him, was less than what he was worth of. The offer sheet was not signed by him, and thus he was not obligated to attend the practice.

As a result of the minicamp, the Panthers did have some positive news regarding their secondary. For the Panthers, Jordan Pugh, the sixth round selection, was a pleasant surprise. Breaking up, picking off passes and the ball-hawking defensive back was everywhere.

Quarterback Jimmy Clausen was selected by the Panthers out of Notre Dame, in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft. As a result of the release of long-time quarterback Jake Delhomme, the quarterback situation is up for grabs in Carolina. Clausen held his own, during the workouts and he has expressed his intent to be the team’s starter, although Matt Moore inherited the starting spot.

Many are concerned about the state of Carolina’s defense, with Julius Peppers’ departure of defensive end. Linebacker Thomas Davis performed well at minicamp and he will have a lot to do with how the defense performs. To the team, his success is a surprise. Against the New Orleans Saints about six months ago, he blew out his knee.
