NFL mini camps: Indianapolis Colts

The Colts held a successful rookie mini camp. Each of their rookies participated, but had a lot to put on their plate.

NFL betting favorite, the Colts, tried to put each of their rookies in a position to learn the playbook as well as they could early on. The coaching staff seemed less concerned about performance, and they seemed more concerned about the players becoming acclimated to the system.

The Colts had several veterans, including Peyton Manning, talk to the young players and prepare them for the offseason.

The Colts have been missing some of their key veterans to this point in mini camp. Antoine Bethea, Robert Mathis, and Reggie Wayne did not show up. Both Bethea and Mathis did not show up to mini camps for various reasons. These absences were expected of them. Bethea is actually still not under contract for the Colts yet. He has not yet signed the Colts offer and is not eligible to play. Mathis was excused as he was attending his own college graduation ceremony.

Reggie Wayne has his own offseason program. He prefers to spend time at the University of Miami to get into shape. He has skipped voluntary training camps many times over the course of his career, but he is expected to report to the mini camp on June 4th.

The Colts look like they are on track to this point. Each of their players that were injured last season looks to have improved health. Dwight Freeney is still rehabbing his ankle that suffered an injury last year during the playoffs.
