NFL: Detroit Lions History
The Lions didn’t fare much better in the 2009 season, not too far removed from the awful 0-16 season. The Lions were one of the worst teams in the entire NFL and easily the worst team in the NFC North Division. The Lions Ultimately finished with a record of 2-14 on the season.
With just 262 points, the Lions Offensively finished the match. In the NFC, this total points scored was the 3rd worst total. Despite a bad offense, it was not nearly as poor as their defensive was in comparison.
Detroit Lions defense surrendered a whopping 494 points in the 2009 season. In the entire NFL, this total is by far the highest total, which is very poor.
The defensive line was definitely a weakness for the Lions. To put any pressure on the quarterback, their line struggled. It makes it very difficult for the defense to cover receivers for very long, without pressure on the quarterback.
To come out of the draft in the recent past, Ndamukong Suh, NFL betting favorite, is one of the highest profile linemen and will be a big boost for the defense.
A running back from California, Jahvid Best was picked up with the 30th pick in the draft. The key for the Lions is to find a way for Stafford and Best to gain confidence early. young players at skill position can lose confidence, over time, confidence if they aren’t able to find success early in their careers. To be an improved team this season, look for the Lions. Lions probably won’t be a playoff team just yet and won’t finish with a 2-14 record.
