Green Bay Packers Packs their Defense Line for 2010

The Green Bay Packers won 11 games and lost 5 in 2009. Aaron Rogers left no doubt as to who was the leader of that team and truly took the reins. Charles Woodson earned defensive player MVP. They had hopes to go to the super bowl and made the playoffs. However, the Arizona Cardinals bounced out them out of the playoffs in the highest scoring post season game in history.

Green Bay would have beaten Arizona, and made their way to the Super bowl if only for a few more defensive stops, as agreed by many analysts. Green Bay focused on defense during the off season is so surprise to anyone. In the 2010 NFL draft, the Packers used the 23rd pick to draft Defensive End C.J. Wilson from East Carolina. It is also appealed to the team that Wilson played a 4-3 defensive scheme in college.

However, Green Bay didn’t just stop there. 11 undrafted free agents were signed by them. 5 of them were defensive players, of those 11 free agents. Linebacker Frank Zombo from Central Michigan, and Corner Back Sam Shields from University of Miami were notable signings.

Defensive Coordinator Dom Capers had staff view hours of film during the off season and had the defensive players and made many adjustments to incorporate the new players in the 2010 season. The Green Bay Packers look to be a strong defensive force in 2010, with Capers and the entire defensive staff completely in tack from last season.
