Giant Hopes for 2010?
After a lackluster 8-8 season last year, the New York Football Giants have spent this off-season strategically piecing together their arsenal to combat one of the toughest divisions in all of football, the ultra-competitive NFC East.
The G-men will be contenting with the cut-throat tactics of madman coach Mike Shanahan and his Washington Redskins with recycled quarterback Donovan McNabb.
The Cowboys and overzealous owner Jerry Jones will also be trying to build off their division title last year in an effort to host a Superbowl in their home stadium. Philadelphia, behind the indecisive leadership of coach Andy Reid will be featuring the loud barking offensive explosiveness of reincarnated Michael Vick.
So by now I’m sure you are asking what moves did Tom Coughlin and the former World Champions make? The Giants front office for Coach Rosacea signed former Cardinal safety Antrel Rolle to a 5-year $37-million deal and ex-Seahawk saftey Deon Grant to a 1-year contract. After solidifying their secondary, the Giants went to the draft to buff up their defensive line with first round pick DE Jason Pierre-Paul from S. Florida and second round pick DT Linval Joseph from E. Carolina. Understandably, the G-men retooled their defense this off-season.
However, this team still has not found a replacement for Plaxico Burress and that will deflate any giant hopes of improving their record. Look for the Giants to finish last place in their division by losing a lot of close games and ending the season with a record of 5-11.
